Wolds Shooting Club is a Target Shooting Club based in the East Riding of Yorkshire/North Yorkshire area.

The Club is dedicated to the Target Shooting of various calibre Firearms, the Club is an NRA affiliated, Home Office approved 'Nomadic' Club, with its primary range at Cottondale Shooting Ground on most Saturdays from 10am until 4pm.

The Range we use is 50 meters, with a covered firing point and members are able to shoot bench rested, standing and prone.

The Club has members with knowledge of various kinds of Firearms, with Rimfire Semi-Automatic Rifles; Long Barrel Pistols, Centerfire Lever and Bolt action Rifles and Muzzle Loading Firearms being a staple of range days.

History

The Club was constituted on the 24th March 2014. The club was formed by a small band of enthusiastic people, who wanted to be part of a shooting Club that is run solely for the benefits of its members. After the Club was formed, a committee was elected to run the Club in line with the Constitution and all other statutory requirements.

The first job for the committee was to arrange somewhere for its members to shoot, this was duly done and we now have a range we regularly use, this being, Cottondale Shooting Ground.

The next task was to apply for affiliation to the National Rifle Association which was achieved in May 2014 and then to apply for Home Office approval, which was gained in August 2014.

Since then we have been, and still are, working continually to improve the club and its facilities. We have been on the constant look out for somewhere to properly call home, and welcomed any help that members wish to offer in this activity.

Aims & Objectives

The objective of the Club is to encourage skill and safety in the use of Firearms by providing instruction and practice; to provide facilities, and to promote participation of the whole community in shooting sports.

The Club prides itself on its inclusivity, open to people from all walks of life, the club promotes the participation of the whole community, including disabled persons and current/ex members of the Armed Forces, in the sport of shooting.
